From "Experience Life" September 1010. http://www.experiencelifemag.com/index.html I found a great quote to keep in mind.
"When you smile, the world smiles with you - in part, because mirror neurons in our brains cause us to unconsciously mimic the facial expressions of those around us. When you nurture and express your positive feelings, you'll smile and laugh more often, and those around you will be naturally inclined to do the same. They'll benefit from this influx of positivity - and so will you. "
A wonderful thought to keep in mind every day. 800.497.7005 www.SusansSpecialNeeds.com

Wig Specialists Thinning Hair, Alopecia and Medical Hair Loss
With more of us experiencing thinning hair or hair loss wigs are an easy solution to help us feel like ourselves again and have great choices. Once your into the freedom of wigs you can have different looks for different occasions.
The Greeks shaved their heads for cleanliness then wore wigs. They perfumed their wigs with a paraffin based product to add a fragrance and cooling affect on those hot Grecian days. The Romans wore wigs to cover baldness and thinning. So our issues are not new issues at all. It's part of being human and caring about our appearance and self-confidence. And, have choices for beauty and fashion.

Old Fashioned Customer Service is our Foundation
"We Pay Them to Be Rude to Us" Peggy Noonan, Wall Street Journal, August 14, 2010
This article refers to the JetBlue Steward, Steven Slater explaining that now the U.S. has migrated away from being an industrial nation, we are now a service economy which has changed the way most of us react and interact with each other. We just aren't as polite to each other and we all tend to be on edge. Basically we want to "TAKE THE CHUTE" ourselves.
At Susan's Special Needs we believe in "Old Fashioned" customer service with fresh coffee, tea, water and cookies. Welcome with a smile. It is our pleasure to serve our clients and to help them through a difficult time in their life. Our goal is to make a difference and help make our part of their experience one of providing comfort. Our clients walk in with hesitance and walk out with joy.

Beauty and Fashion from 2,000 BCE...Mastectomy Garments based on over 4,000 Years of History
"From the Greeks to the Romans
To You and to Me
Nothing has changed
But the Phone and TV" dut
WoW. That is truly true about women's fashion.
CRETE (2000 to 1500 BCE): Women were beginning to realize the value of garments and the look of beauty and its benefits. The beginning use of a Girdle was shown in illustrations
ANCIENT GREECE (1100 BCE to 50 BCE)
Bra: Breast band was being used and called apodesmos, mastodeton or strophion.
Wigs: Used to cover bald (shaved) heads and protect them from the sun. Used for fashion and beauty.
ROMAN EMPIRE (31 BCE TO 312 AD)
Bra: Wearing a tunic with a girdle and adopoted a form of the apodesme called a strophium or mamillare. Roman women wore a tunic gathered slightly under the bust with no waist.
Wigs: Extremely popular for fashion and to hide baldness
Cosmetics:Wearing cosmetics was extremely popular - Powdered chalk to lighten faces, red wine based lipstick, ash-based eyeliner and perfume was very popular.
1900s to Today:
1930 Onward: Large-scale commercial production of bras began
1975: 1st Synthetic Breast Form created and patented by Cornelius and Jolly Rechenberg. Bags of rice, beads and other materials had been used previously. Jolly Rechenberg continues the family tradition with American Breast Care innovating new breast forms, shapers and mastectomy bras.
The importance of beauty and fashion continues today. At Susan's Special Needs we are specialists in the Science of Mastectomy and understand the importance of providing the products to "Feel Like Yourself ... Again." Give us a call to see how we can help you discover yourself again. Toll-Free 800.497.7005 www.SusansSpecialNeeds.com

Rave Review for Susan's from Chemotherapy Client
We had a wonderful compliment this morning. One of our clients was at her oncologist and told her that she should send all of her patients to Susan's. She always felt comfortable, everyone was so friendly and she only had to go to one place to find products for her new needs. It's nice to hear and we are always working hard to make sure all of our clients needs are met. It is our passion to help women with their new needs and discover their new norm. Women tell us they feel like themselves again. 800.497.7005 www.SusansSpecialNeeds.com

Helping to ease first wig tension from chemotherapy hair loss
It's so exciting helping women with their first wig. Some women come into the store with hesitation thinking about those wigs that looked like a big hat. We show them the wonderful new wigs that look like their own hair. To see the look of relief when they see themselves and realize that they will be able to look like themselves again is a great moment. You can feel the tension relax and a sense of calm knowing that they will be able to go to work, out with friends and family and not have to worry. Give us a call to discuss the wonderful options that are available to you. 800.497.7005 www.SusansSpecialNeeds.com
